Integrity, Excellence, Service, and Respect Honored by Cadets

MUÑIZ ANG BASE, Puerto Rico – During the weekend of April 23-25, 2021, a total of 16 cadets were graduated from the Southeast Region Cadet Honor Academy hosted by the Puerto Rico Wing in a blended format, which included a virtual day with two additional days of in-person training at the facilities of the Muñiz Air National Guard Base in Carolina, Puerto Rico.

“Extraordinary effort from the cadets shows their commitment and discipline during the entire academy,” said Lt Col Ismael J. Rodríguez

The mission of the Cadet Honor Academy is to prepare cadets to serve on color guards and honor guards while simultaneously furthering their individual character development. The Cadet Honor Academy imparts timeless values of patriotism, community service, and personal honor by training cadets on the finer points of Air Force-style drills and ceremonies.

Cadet graduates represented seven different units across Puerto Rico Wing:

During the events several cadets outstood and were recognized during the graduation ceremony:

  • Best Cadet Overall: C/CMSgt Caleb Negrón, SER-PR-161

  • Best DDR Billboard Presentation Overall: C/CMSgt Caleb Negrón, SER-PR-161

  • Best DDR Billboard Design Overall: C/TSgt Valeria Lima, SER-PR-126

 

“I am also very proud of you for setting your standards high and making every effort to achieve this goal. You truly are leading by example in making every effort to reach for excellence and for that I thank you. Your commitment to upholding our most regarded ceremonial traditions as well as representing our organization with honor and pride is an example for others to follow,” said Col. Edgardo Torres, Puerto Rico Wing Commander.

The CHA's staff was  composed by 1st. Lt. Rolando Adorno, Director; Lt. Col. Ismael Rodríguez, Maj. Pablo Vélez, 1st. Lt. Maranjely Mercado, 2d. Lt. Gabriel Vázquez, C/1st Lt Xavier Álvarez and C/Capt. Gabriel Fidalgo.

During the face-to-face events, all personnel used their masks properly, the temperature was taken, and the cleaning and disinfection were maintained following protocols of the PRWG Remobilization Plan of the Membership.

Despite the pandemic, it did not impede making it through the activity this year.

The cadets were able to meet the requirements for the graduation of the 2021 Southeast Region Cadet Honor Academy.
