Cesareo’s Cadet Team Takes Championship Trophy on Wing Competition

Three teams representing their squadrons made an intense performance during the 2022 Puerto Rico Wing Cadet Competition held at Muñiz ANG Base in Carolina, Puerto Rico.

After many times of postponement due to the pandemic, Puerto Rico Wing resumed its Cadet Competition on November 19, 2022.

“Cadet competitions carry on the tradition of excellence in all we do. Teams trained and competed to demonstrate their abilities in drill and ceremonies, general knowledge in CAP leadership and aerospace topics, and public speaking,” said Lt. Col. Ismael J. Rodriguez, director of the wing cadet competition. “I am truly amazed of highest level of professionalism and dedication showed by this year competitors. For sure, they will represent us well at the region level cadet competition.”

The wing competition featured 3 cadet teams that performed over a one-day on various aspects of cadet life, such as indoor posting of the colors, drill, a leadership and aerospace written exam, a team leadership problem, uniform inspection, fitness testing, and public speaking.

The championship went to Dr. Cesáreo Rosa Nieves Cadet Squadron (PR-123) team, holding the trophy from the previous competition. The 2nd place was taken by Lt Col Elsa M. Soto-Torres Cadet Squadron (PR-094) and 3rd place to Bayamon Cadet Squadron (PR-131).

After the scores were evaluated, winners were announced at the competition’s awards ceremony. In attendance were PR wing commander, Col. Edgardo Torres, and Lt. Col. Rafael Martinez, PR Wing Director of Cadet Programs. Teams participated in thirteen events.
